After many hours of trying to configure my hp laserjet professional, i reinstalled arch linux wth the xfce desktop. pacman install hplip and wget. check with the arch wiki to make sure all the dependancies are installed.. In this post i will describe how to install and configure a hp printer and scanner combi devices on arch linux. the described method should be applicable for most of hps usb devices.. Either: install hplip first, then retrieve the ppd file that matches your printer from /usr/share/ppd/hp/. next, remove hplip entirely as well as any unnecessary dependencies. finally, install the printer manually using the cups web ui, selecting the ppd file you retrieved, and then re-install hplip ..
